You are amazed that your neighbor’s dog is learning the tricks of the trade so fast. Both you and your neighbor have purchased the same breed of dog at the same time, but whereas his dog has learnt so many commands, yours has barely learnt housebreaking. What is the difference? You are sure that your friend has not employed any professional trainer and you are confident that he is not following any special course to train his dog.
Chances are that he is using special dog training tools for educating his canine friend. There are a number of dog training tools available in the market and they assist you to train you dog faster. Most dogs learn to react to a command by associating the same with some spoken words or any action from their master. In order to enhance these words or actions, tools like the clicker are used.
Basically the clicker consists of a hollow box with a protruding tongue. Pressing on the tongue produces a clicking sound. The dog needs to be trained to respond to the number of clicking sounds. One click might well mean that he needs to heel and if there are multiple clicks, it might mean that you are calling him.
Basically this type of training is also known as reverse training since the clicker is clicked after the dog has performed a particular task. Each time it runs click the clicker 2 times. When it sits, click it once. Dogs are intelligent enough and will soon associate these sounds with their actions. After a short period of time you will observe that if you click the clicker once, your trained dog will immediately sit down. Clicking it 2 times will make it run. In recent times, the clicker is the preferred choice of tools used to train dogs.
